In Texas, the mother of a 6-year-old boy who was a victim in a drunk driving accident confronted the man responsible for the accident and her son’s condition. The man was charged with drunk driving and has been in prison since 2009. The mother visited him in jail and expressed her anger toward him about her son’s condition.

It was 5 years ago when the accident seriously injured her then 2-year-old son. The man was drunk driving with a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit and smashed his truck into the rear of the woman’s car. The son was strapped in the back seat of the car during the accident and became paralyzed and nearly brain-dead. The mother recently confronted the driver in jail and showed him pictures of her son healthy and happy at 2 years old and then bandaged and paralyzed at 6 years old.

The mother decided to confront the man because she wanted him to know the hurt and devastation it has caused their family. Her son’s health has not been improving and he is slowly declining every day. The man apologized to the mother and said he thinks about her son every day.

After the confrontation with the man, the mother did not feel better and does not think she will ever be able to forgive him. Unfortunately, drunk driving accidents happen too often in Texas. It is difficult to see loved ones suffering and becoming permanently disabled because of a drunk driving accident. It is often difficult to move forward after a tragic accident because of the emotional tolls on families. Texas civil courts can help families cope by assisting them in receiving financial compensation to pay for damages and medical bills like the ones this family is undoubtedly facing.
