DUI blamed in motor vehicle accident resulting in 3 deaths

On Behalf of | Jun 1, 2020 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

When people consume alcohol, it is important that they do so responsibly and not get behind the wheel of a car. Drunk drivers have an increased risk of causing a motor vehicle accident and they present a danger to anyone they may encounter while out on the road. These types of crashes should never happen, but sadly, they do all too often. A driver here in Texas was recently blamed for the deaths of three people in a crash after police say that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

The incident happened on a recent late evening on a local road. Officers say that a young man was driving an SUV at a high rate of speed toward an intersection. Police claim that the man ran a red light and struck the side of a passenger vehicle. That vehicle spun and struck two other vehicles before coming to a stop.

First responders rushed to the accident, but a passenger and driver of the passenger vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Another occupant of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead after being rushed to a nearby hospital. The last occupant of the car is still in the hospital and receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the SUV. Officers say that he was taken to a local hospital for treatment and determined that he was intoxicated. They charged him with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

A crash due to someone else’s poor choices should never have to occur, but it can seem particularly tragic when it happens because of intoxication. The families of the people who died in this motor vehicle accident may decide to reach out to attorneys here in Texas to determine the best method for holding any responsible parties accountable.
