Questions after car accident kills 1, injures another

by | Mar 1, 2020 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

Sometimes after a car crash, there is a clear answer about what caused the collision. There are times when a motor vehicle accident involves someone who was drinking and driving or someone who may have been driving recklessly. There are other instances when the reasons for a car accident aren’t so clear. A recent crash here in Texas has left law enforcement with the job of determining exactly what happened in a crash that resulted in death and injury.

Police say that the incident happened on a recent afternoon. One vehicle was facing east at a stop sign and made a turn onto a connecting street. That is when, according to authorities, a southbound sports car struck the car. The man in the first car was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The driver in the sports car suffered moderate injuries and was taken to another hospital. There is no word on that driver’s condition. Police had to close parts of the intersection while they conducted their investigation, which remains open. Authorities have not announced whether they intend to file criminal charges in connection with the crash.

If the police investigation concludes that the driver of the sports car is to blame for the car accident, criminal charges may not be the only thing the driver will have to face. The family of the man who died could decide to file a wrongful death claim against the driver and/or any other party deemed responsible for the crash. Those here in Texas who find themselves in a similar situation may want to consult an attorney who handles personal injury and wrongful death claims as a means of seeking justice.
