A recent ceremony was held to honor a victim who was killed in a 2006 tragedy. The mother of the young woman joined forces with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, who said that it provides crosses free of charge for those who wish to mark the sites of drunk driving accidents which have taken the lives of loved ones. The mother and others gathered to place a cross at the scene of the crash to honor the young student whose life ended abruptly eight years ago.
A 48-year-old woman was accused of driving under the influence in the Nov. 2006 fatal accident. It was reported that the driver of the vehicle went through a red light and crashed, sending the student from Texas Tech to the hospital with critical injuries. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries four days later.
According to information provided, the decedent was an organ donor. The victim’s mother said that it troubled her, however, knowing that so many travelers passed by her daughter’s crash site each day without realizing the tragedy that occurred there. The free cross service offered by MADD has benefited families by providing a means to create a road-side memorial for their loved ones.
When drunk driving accidents occur in Texas, those who are injured or suffer the death of a family member have the right to seek legal advice with regard to filing a personal injury or wrongful death claim in court. Depending upon the circumstances of the incident, financial relief might be awarded by the court.
