A Texas man will have a new reason to smile 8 years after being in a tragic car accident. The car accident left him paralyzed and unable to speak. With high school graduation approaching, his high school has put together a fundraiser to provide the young man with a graduation gift. They are raising money to help the family buy things for his daily needs and purchase a wheel-chair accessible van.

In 2005 when he was 13 years old, while driving back to Texas after vacationing in Mexico, his family was involved in a fatal car accident that killed his mother, uncle, and older sister. The 13 year old boy, his younger brother, and baby niece survived the accident. The driver of the car lost control of the vehicle due to mechanical failure and caused the car to flip over multiple times. The boy was ejected from the car and suffered severe brain injury and paralysis.

After the accident, the boy was treated in a Mexican hospital before being transferred to Children’s Medical Center in Texas. He had to go through multiple surgeries, medical treatments, and rehabilitation. It was a difficult time for the father who did not immediately return his to school after the accident. The father was worried about his son and did not know of any programs available for his son’s condition. Eventually he discovered a special program and enrolled his son back to school.

Now at 21 years old, the Texas man is finally graduating high school. He smiles daily and is able to communicate by blinking his eyes. Because of his positive attitude, his future looks bright. Families who lose loved in a car accident he can receive emotional and financial support. A successful litigation can provide compensation for damages and medical expenses and help families move on with their lives.
