Texas motor vehicle accident critically injures motorcyclist

On Behalf of | Oct 15, 2013 | Car Accidents |

Earlier this week, a car and a motorcycle collided, which left one person critically injured and sent three people total to an area hospital for treatment. A 20-year-old Texas A&M student was driving a motorcycle when the crash occurred with another vehicle. Texas police are still investigating the serious motor vehicle accident.

The 20-year-old college student was driving his motorcycle in College Station on October 14 just before 5:30 p.m. Supposedly, a vehicle cut in front of him attempting to turn onto Southwest Parkway near Texas Avenue. The motorcyclist did not have enough time to adjust and avoid an accident, so he slammed into the passenger side of the vehicle.

Unfortunately, the student was not wearing a helmet, and he was taken to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition. The passenger of the vehicle was also injured, but is said to be in stable condition now, and the driver is stable as well. The driver of the vehicle was cited for failure to yield, but it is not sure if more charges will follow. Police reconstructed the scene in order to get a better theory of what exactly happened during the crash.

The accident is still under investigation, but it seems as if the police’s preliminary instinct is that the driver of the vehicle was responsible for the motor vehicle accident. If this is found to be true, the motorcyclist may be able to file a personal injury suit against the driver. If this suit is successful, it could reimburse him for hospital bills as well as punitive damages.
