Semi-truck accident seriously injures driver in passenger vehicle

On Behalf of | May 9, 2020 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

Tractor-trailers and other large commercial vehicles are a vital part of the country’s economy. Without them, the transportation of goods would be more difficult and costly. However, as useful as these vehicles are, they can also cause serious injuries to those unlucky enough to get into a crash with one. One Texas motorist was left fighting for life after being struck in a semi-truck accident.

According to police, the crash happened on a recent weekday evening on an interstate on-ramp. Details of exactly what occurred are scarce, but it appears as though a semi-truck ran over a pickup truck. Eyewitnesses back up these findings, though police say they are still investigating the incident.

The crash snarled traffic as first responders worked to free a person from inside the pickup truck. It is unclear exactly how many people were involved in the crash, but authorities have confirmed that a victim had to be rushed to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Police have not announced whether they believe there were any contributing factors to the crash, such as excessive speed or intoxication. They also have not announced whether they intend to file criminal charges in connection with the crash.

If it turns out that the driver of the semi-truck caused the crash, he or she may not just face criminal charges. The injured victim may decide to pursue a personal injury civil claim. Doing so could result in monetary damages that could be useful in covering the victim’s expenses related to the semi-truck accident, such as hospital bills or missed income from work. Those here in Texas who believe they may be in the same situation may want to consult an attorney to determine their available options.
