Texas fatal accidents apparently on the rise in one county

Statistics are not necessary to understand that many serious collisions have occurred on Texas roadways this year. In El Paso County, more fatal accidents have been recorded, thus far, in 2015 than those listed during the same time last year. One crash resulted in a young man’s death and a survivor’s arrest under charges of intoxicated manslaughter.

Not long after midnight on a recent Friday, a traveler is said to have witnessed a horrific scene unfolding before her. Apparently, a speeding vehicle veered out of control on Loop 375 and slid into the far lane of moving traffic. The vehicle was then reported to have smashed into a  sport utility vehicle. The SUV was apparently sent careening into a cement barrier and ended its horrific journey crashed against a light pole.

The witness to the accident claimed that the person who appeared to have caused the tragic crash fled from the scene. Sadly, the 24-year-old driver of the SUV suffered massive wounds to his head and succumbed to those injuries at the accident site. It was also reported that the woman who fled suffered minor injuries in the collision. Police arrested her later after discovering her at a residence, and she now faces charges of intoxicated manslaughter, as well as other outstanding traffic warrants.

In fatal accidents such as this one, the immediate family members who have survived the tragic loss of a loved one seemingly caused by another driver’s wrongful actions may seek guidance from a legal professional with experience in wrongful death cases. Texas law allows immediate family members to file a claim in civil court in order to seek compensation for damages sustained as the result of a loved one’s untimely death. Family members are sometimes awarded financial compensation in successfully litigated cases which can most likely assist them as they work through the aftermath of a tragic loss.
