Texas man dies in drunk driving accident

On Behalf of | Dec 18, 2014 | Drunk Driving Accidents |

A man was killed in a recent accident that occurred in the Houston area. He was a victim in an apparent drunk driving accident, and, according to Texas police, the other driver left the scene. A woman, who saw the crash, comforted the victim as he was dying.

On an early December evening, a woman observed a vehicle speed past her, and, a short time later, she noticed that there had been a horrific crash. She immediately went to the scene of the accident, and informed the driver, who was trapped in his overturned SUV, that he was just struck by a speeding truck. The woman remained at the scene until medical crews arrived to rescue him. Tragically, the man died as a result of the crash.

Police say that the other party was drinking and driving and fled the scene. Reports indicate that the drunk driver had crashed into another vehicle and sped off before crashing into the SUV. The man currently faces two charges, including leaving the scene and DUI. He is being held on a $10,000 bond and other charges could be pending in the death of the SUV driver.

Unfortunately, the death of the man was allegedly caused by the negligence of another in a drunk driving accident. The family members of the deceased man are undoubtedly mourning the loss of their loved one. In cases such as this one, families have the option to file wrongful death claims in pursuit of compensation for their losses. Compensation can provide financial stability to a family facing unexpected end-of-life expenses.
