A driver has been blamed for a deadly accident after striking and killing another motorist. Texas authorities believe that the person who allegedly caused the apparent wrongful death accident was under the influence. Another person who was involved in the accident suffered critical injuries.
The accident happened on a recent Saturday on a major roadway. Upon a preliminary investigation, authorities determined that the driver of a SUV was headed in the wrong way while traveling on the highway. The GMC crashed into a Mitsubishi SUV, which caused both vehicles to go up in flames. The driver of the GMC also crashed into a third vehicle.
Tragically, both of the drivers of the SUVs died at the scene. Rescue crews transported the third driver to the hospital to be treated for critical injuries. The drivers have not yet been identified, and it has been suggested that the driver of the GMC may have been driving while intoxicated at the time of the collision. No other information about this matter was reported.
A fatal accident can have significant and far-reaching consequences for family members and loved ones who are left behind. The family of the deceased Mitsubishi driver retain the right to file a wrongful death suit against the estate of the GMC driver to seek recovery of financial compensation for emotional anguish, funeral expenses and other monetary burdens associated with the crash. The civil court system in Texas typically awards financial relief if evidence establishes a driver was negligent and that negligence was responsible for the accident and death that resulted.
