Texas motorcyclist dies in car accident

On Behalf of | Oct 3, 2014 | Car Accidents |

Motorcyclists are often faced with a number of dangers when they travel on our roadways. The actions of other drivers can cause catastrophe for anyone on a motorcycle, and a recent crash was no exception. Tragically, a Texas man died recently as a result of a fatal car accident on his motorcycle.

The motorcycle accident happened on a recent Sunday evening in Texarkana. Upon a preliminary investigation, authorities determined that a driver of a van made a turn onto a street right in front of the motorcyclist. The 52-year-old biker attempted to avoid the vehicle but was unsuccessful and slammed into the van. The motorcyclist and a passenger were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The exact details of the passenger’s injuries have not been reported, but she is listed in stable condition. Tragically, the cyclist died as a result of his injuries. Authorities are still investigating the crash, and it’s not known if the driver of the van is expected to be charged. No other information has been released.

When a motorcyclist is the victim of a fatal car accident, his or her family typically wonders if they have any legal options available to them. As the investigation continues, it may be determined that the driver of the van was responsible, and the surviving family members may exercise their right to initiate a wrongful death claim against the other driver. While a successful claim will not bring back their loved one, any award issued by a Texas civil courtroom could at least provide some financial relief as the family continues to grieve their loss.
