Pedestrians generally do not have much to physically protect them in the event that they are struck by a motor vehicle. Thus, car vs. pedestrian accidents can cause a great deal of harm to pedestrians. Such accidents can sometimes even have fatal results. This can be seen in a car vs. pedestrian accident that recently occurred in Texas.
The accident occurred last Friday. That evening, a 67-year-old woman was going for a walk with her dogs. The woman was walking in a neighborhood in Houston. Reportedly, a motor vehicle then hit the woman. The street the woman was struck on was D’Amico Street. The driver of the motor vehicle was a woman in her 80s.
Reportedly, as of Monday, it was not clear if any charges/citations would be brought in connection to this car vs. pedestrian accident.
The accident did, sadly, result in a loss of life. According to the article on KHOU’s website which reported this story, the 67-year-old woman was fatally injured in this accident.
As this tragic incident shows, car vs. pedestrian accidents can be extremely harmful.
Consequently, one hopes that all motor vehicle drivers in Texas take all reasonable steps to prevent car vs. pedestrian accidents when out on the roads. This includes driving in a safe and responsible manner when behind the wheel. It also includes making sure to watch for pedestrians when driving and to exercise proper care when driving in areas where pedestrians are present. If motor vehicle drivers fail to do these things, they could be putting the safety of pedestrians at risk.
