U.S. Congressman injured in Texas car accident

by | Oct 7, 2014 | Car Accidents |

A long-time member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Ralph Hall, was the victim of a car accident recently. The car accident caused him to suffer injuries and left him hospitalized. It’s not known if Texas officials plan on charging either of the drivers who were involved.

The crash took place just 60 miles northeast of Dallas over a recent weekend. According to reports, the accident was caused when a car made a turn in front of the vehicle he was riding in. Medical crews arrived at the scene, and he was airlifted to the Medical Center of Plano for treatment. He suffered minor cuts and bruises, along with an injury to his hip. At last report, the 91-year-old congressman was in fair but stable condition and should make a recovery.

Neither of the drivers was injured. It’s not known if authorities cited the driver who turned in front of his vehicle. The congressman is expected to leave the office in January as he lost a primary challenge in a Republican runoff election earlier this year.

The careless acts of one driver can cause serious injuries for victims who are involved in a car accident. In this case, the lawmaker may be required to continue medical treatment, such as rehab, to make a full recovery with regard to his hip injuries. In addition, it’s likely that the congressman experienced financial loss due to medical expenses and related costs. He is legally entitled to pursue legal action by filing a personal injury claim against the driver of the other vehicle. Doing so successfully may result in financial relief awarded in a Texas civil courtroom while he continues to heal.
