On Behalf of | Oct 21, 2014 | Car Accidents |

A car accident has claimed the life of a 9-year-old girl. Texas authorities were called out to the scene to conduct an investigation of the car accident. Initial reports suggest that one of the drivers was under the influence.

The accident happened recently when the girl was riding in an SUV. According to reports, a 41-year-old male driver, who was later accused of driving while intoxicated, crashed his vehicle into the SUV she was in. The 38-year-old SUV driver was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She suffered a broken shoulder and a collapsed lung.

At last report, the woman’s condition was stable. Authorities indicated that the man informed them that he drank three beers before getting behind the wheel and also that he did not know that an accident took place. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and murder as well as DUI.

A car accident can be a physical and financial burden and for the victims and their families as well. From a physical standpoint, a victim may experience an enormous amount of pain and suffering related to their injuries. Financially speaking, an accident victim may not be able to work as they continue to recuperate and could lose wages from employment, along with incurring medical expenses. The injured woman and the family of the deceased girl may have the right to pursue a personal injury and wrongful death claim.  The civil court system in Texas typically adjudicates these types of matters based upon evidence that the injuries and/or death that resulted were caused by the negligence of another party.
