Firefighter fights to recuperate 1 year after spinal cord injury

Over a year ago, a Texas firefighter was involved in a terrible car accident and suffered a serious spinal cord injury. He was told by doctors that he would suffer paralysis from the neck down. After a few months recovering in the hospital, the firefighter started outpatient physical therapy which involved three to five hours of strengthening exercises. Despite the spinal cord injury diagnosis, he slowly made progress and started to gain use of his arms, shoulders and wrist. He has been able to move his toes on occasion.

Family awarded $281 million in wrongful death lawsuit

In Texas, the family of a man killed by a drive shaft from a tractor-trailer truck has been awarded a $281 million verdict in a wrongful death lawsuit. The company sued was an oil patch supplier company. The jury found that the company was negligent in properly maintaining the truck, which resulted in the wrongful death of the man.

Teen in drunk driving accident goes to trial

Trial has begun on a case involving a Texas teenager accused of a drunk driving accident that killed four people. The 16-year-old teenager drove his truck into a group of people standing outside a disabled vehicle on the side of the road. In court, the teenager admitted to the drunk driving accident charges and being responsible for the deaths of the four people.

Wrongful death lawsuit filed after fatal motorcycle crash

When the negligence of a driver results in a fatal auto accident, the result can be criminal charges for the driver. In addition, the family left behind has the right to pursue civil litigation as well. This right is being exercised by the mother of a young man who was killed in motorcycle accident in October. As she continues to move through the early stages of grief, the woman has filed a wrongful death suit against the driver involved in the crash. On behalf of her son, the woman has filed the suit in a federal court in Galveston, Texas.

Texas lawsuit filed in drunk driving accident in Jefferson County

A man and a woman are being sued by an accident victim as a result of injuries suffered in a Jefferson County collision. The man is said to have driven the woman's car because she was too intoxicated to drive. He reportedly drove the car out of his lane on a local roadway and toward oncoming traffic. As the driver swerved the car, he collided with a car coming in the opposite direction. The negligence complaint asserts that the driver was engaging in drunk driving.
