Texas woman sues for wrongful death after fatal car crash

On Behalf of | Nov 12, 2013 | Wrongful Death |

A Texas woman has recently filed a wrongful death as well as a personal injury suit against a transfer truck driver and the company he works for in relation to a fatal car crash that happened earlier this year. The truck driver apparently rear-ended the vehicle of the woman’s friend, causing him to die from his injuries. The Texas woman is seeking damages on several grounds in her wrongful death suit.

According to the suit, the transfer truck driver caused an accident on June 25 of this year on Texas’s I-30. Supposedly, the woman’s friend was driving a Dodge, and he had to slow down because of the traffic in front of him. The truck seemed to not have noticed, and the truck slammed into the Dodge’s rear-end, causing substantial injury to the driver and later causing his death.

The truck driver has been accused of negligence as well as other claims relating to the accident. The driver’s company is also being sued for hiring the driver supposedly without a proper background check and safety training. The woman is seeking damages including funeral expenses, exemplary damages and loss of companionship, as well as other damages.

A jury trial has been requested, but an exact date on when the trial will start was not listed in the report. Any Illinois citizen who has lost a family member due to another’s negligence may be able to sue for wrongful death. If the suit is successful, that person may receive compensation for any damages sustained as a result of the loss of the loved one.
